Distilling smarter, safer processes

A new digital system helped Loch Lomond Distillery reduce admin, cut downtime and strengthen ATEX compliance.

With a complex site and thousands of ATEX-rated assets, Loch Lomond Distillery needed a smarter, long-term solution.
The team wanted more than just compliance – they aimed to set an example of best practice.

Working with DPS Group and Terrington, the distillery implemented a fully digital inspection system, replacing cumbersome paper-based processes with live asset management and real-time reporting. Each device was risk-assessed and added to a custom-built inspection schedule, helping prioritise high-risk areas and reduce reinspection time without compromising safety.

Thanks to the digital asset register, equipment data is always up to date and always available – making it easier to spot faults, schedule remedial work, and minimise downtime. The result?

Reduced admin, improved visibility, and confidence that the distillery is fully compliant today – and in future.
With a potential 40% saving on administration costs, the system is already paying dividends in both time and safety.
