News - Terrington Steps on the Gas
Mark Williams and Jennifer AyreYORK-BASED technology company, Terrington Data Management, achieved six figure revenues through sales of its software products in just the first quarter after its launch and predicts further substantial growth with help and advice from the Business Accelerator Network (BAN).

BAN, which was developed by Business Link York and North Yorkshire with support and funding from Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund, has selected Terrington as one of 28 high growth companies in York and North Yorkshire to receive specialist help and advice, due to its high growth potential.
The company is responsible for the creation of two innovative products - FisCal - a package that enables petroleum companies to prove the accuracy of equipment used to measure the volumes of oil and gas - and TransForm - which utilises mobile wireless computing to simplify data capture, providing a paperless and auditable means for business in sectors such as pharmaceuticals to record their work and meet compliance requirements.
With an impressive list of blue chip clients in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food manufacture and energy generation sectors, the future looks bright for Terrington.
Mark Williams, Terrington's chief executive and managing director, played a leading role in setting up or rescuing failing businesses for other people before deciding to start his own business.  He believes that BAN can continue to help him keep his growth ambitions on track.  He said: "They are helping us to access financial and business support to address skills gaps in the company and are helping the business to overcome issues that would otherwise hamper growth."
He added, "This is important because assessment of our target markets suggests that the potential for growth is significant and it is expected that we will experience sustainable growth year on year.  The flexibility of our signature product, TransForm, makes us very optimistic about the prospects for sales growth, because it's a powerful business tool that enables users to address new opportunities with minimal development effort so achieving time to market faster than potential competitors."
Business Link's high growth adviser Lynne Martin said, "The aim of the network is to help and support entrepreneurial companies such as Terrington, with advice, specialist referrals and access to financial support, which will enable them to achieve their growth ambitions as quickly as possible.  The wealth that they generate and the jobs that they create are essential to the well-being of the York and North Yorkshire economy."
BAN actively helps 28 companies, includes a 'friends' network of 80 private sector companies and public sector organisations that offer additional specialist help, advice, expertise and contacts for the high growth companies.  Lynne Martin pointed out: "This is extremely valuable because the network provides access to a broad spectrum of intermediaries and experienced people from organisations and companies such as business angels, marketers, Intellectual Property and trademark experts, whose input is very valuable to fast-growing enterprises."
