IndEx Mailshot (in association with HazardEx)
IndEx is a tried and tested scalable software system, suitable for both single site and multi-national operations, which has enabled businesses to implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, communication and profitability.

Terrington Data Management have worked with experts in the field of hazardous area equipment management and maintenance to interpret the requirements of ATEX 137/DSEAR to produce IndEx, facilitating compliance with the regulation. IndEx allows users to create or import asset registers, schedule inspection regimes by asset, perform inspections and analyse and report on the results, including exception reporting.

Easy to set up and use, the software works with hand held data capture units with auto ID, such as the Bartec MC9060, and also through MS Internet Explorer for truly mobile data capture.

ATEX INSPECTION SOFTWARE
With the final deadline now passed for compliance with ATEX/DSEAR, a recent poll reveals that 30% of respondents do not believe that their company complies with the legislation and 22% don´t actually know - potentially 52% non compliance.

In line with the International Standard, IEC 60079-17, directly related to the inspection and maintenance of electrical installations within hazardous areas, IndEx can be used to record the results of all initial, periodic and sample inspections.

Inspection results are immediately accessible to all relevant personnel upon completion - providing easy visibility of inspection history when visited by the HSE. A full audit log against every completion ensures complete traceability.

IndEx provides its users with evidence of an inspection system. Location of equipment and scheduled inspections are easily accessible at all times with any overdue inspections instantly highlighted.

IndEx also ensures that skilled personnel are familiar with the inventory of explosion-protected apparatus on site. Any relevant documents, such as specific instructions, images etc can be attached to each individual asset, enabling users to access all required information from one complete database. A history of maintenance activities is stored electronically, along with any details of defects and remedial action taken. A detailed reporting and analysis functionality is also included within the package.

Because IndEx contains a powerful, easy to use, form generator all inspection and safety assessment forms can be modified to meet your exact requirements. IndEx can also be configured to reflect your site layout, providing an accurate list of equipment for each area of your site.

Visual, Close and Detailed inspection forms are included to enable you to start using IndEx as quickly and easily as possible and these can be modified over time, without loss of previously input data.

If an incident occurs, you can have total confidence in IndEx to provide instant detailed records of your inspection and prevention measures which could prove crucial in an emergency.
CASE STUDY
US-owned Warwick International, which has its UK and group headquarters in Holywell, Flintshire, previously used paper-based records in which inspectors completed asset inspection forms for its 5,000 assets at nine different plants ranging from electric motors to instrument transmitters and valves.

But now the company has dramatically improved the efficiency of its hazardous area inspections and reduced contractor hours input for its inspections by 40% using IndEx software. Click here for the full story.
EVENTS
Terrington Data Management attended two of the regional HazardEx events, a series of seminars essential for those involved in the safe and efficient operation of hazardous area plant and equipment. As the deadline for full ATEX compliance approached, HazardEx in the Regions visited locations around the UK, delivering the very latest ATEX and DSEAR information.

Terrington showcased its IndEx product at the HazardEx events. IndEx is proven software that facilitates compliance with ATEX 137 and DSEAR. The application allows you to manage your asset records and inspection regime using mobile technologies. Further information and downloads are available at www.atex-inspection.com.

Terrington Data Management also attended the 24th International North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop at St Andrews Bay. The workshop is established as the premier world event where engineers involved with all aspects of oil and gas production meet to discuss flow measurement issues. Considerable interest was shown in our new electronic logbook which was launched at the workshop. The logbook, which can be used independently or integrated with our various software packages, has been designed to replace any paper-based logbook, significantly improving visibility of information and communication.
HARDWARE
Due to its platform independence, IndEx can be used in conjunction with most of the intrinsically safe handheld terminals on the market today.

This includes, but is not limited to, the MC9060-Ex from Bartec (UK) Ltd and the i.roc from Ecom Instruments. Both are high performing mobile computers for industrial applications which contain integrated WLAN, enabling real-time database update.

The MC9060-Ex represents a compact unit for demanding data acquisition. A comfortably positioned scan trigger ensures single-hand operation is supported. Three different keyboard variants provide a range of data entry options for maximum effiency.

The i.roc is an ergonomic, ruggedised unit optimised for high productivity. The i.roc is available in three different versions to meet the diverse needs and requirements of industry operating both inside and outside of Ex-hazardous areas.
TESTIMONIALS
"Having abandoned our paper record system for electronic records [IndEx] I estimate a reduction in Contractor manhours of around 40% to complete the tasks involved"
Steve Williams, Warwick International

"The Terrington system gives us an assurance and integrity of data which was unattainable with our previous paper-based method"
Mark Brunton, BP Acetyls, Maintenance Breakthrough Team

"I am pleased to say that the service we have received from Terrington has been excellent and, as you are aware, has been far in excess of that which we typically receive for some (industry standard) software products. Accordingly I would have no hesitation in recommending Terrington to any company who is considering adopting the software."
